Crocheting slippers for warm feet and hollowing out pumpkins: this is how campers will have fun this autumn holiday

The autumn holidays ensure crowds at the Drenthe holiday parks. And these autumn temperatures require different measures than in warm summer months. At the Norgerberg holiday park, slippers are crocheted on site to keep your feet warm.

It is clear that the campsites are busy this autumn holiday at the Norgerberg campsite. “We notice that it is getting busier every year during the autumn holidays,” says Noelle Govers of the holiday accommodation. “We have really seen an upward trend since corona. There are many Dutch people, but we also notice that more and more Germans are discovering Drenthe. That is great fun.”

And although temperatures are mild this fall, camping this season requires different activities than in summer. For example, the children on the Norgerberg can bake cookies, make autumn crafts and hollow out pumpkins, Govers explains.

One of the camping guests has started crocheting. Last night the thermometer touched 4 degrees. “I crochet slippers to keep my feet warm. We came here on Saturday. The first night wasn’t too bad, we had a lot of rain. But last night it was chilly, so warm feet are nice,” she says.

She is a loyal guest who has been camping on the Norgerberg during the autumn holidays for five years. She also sees it getting busier. “Before corona this was still limited and during corona it was completely. But after corona we see more and more people coming.”
