Shortly before the SPD members’ vote on black and red, Secretary General Kevin Kühnert railed against CDU top candidate Kai Wegner – Berlin’s likely future ruler. A comment from BZ editor Stefan Peter.
Every SPD member is free to criticize Kai Wegner. Of course, the Secretary General of the Federal SPD is also allowed to have and express his opinion.
However, the point in time at which Kevin Kühnert made his comments is strange: one day before the end of his party’s member vote, he once again railed against the likely coalition partner. This means that we can hardly expect a good cooperation in black and red in the future.
In addition, Kühnert does not want to reveal how he votes himself. So is his public criticism of Wegner and the Berlin CDU just blubbering from an SPD leftist or is it more of a gambit to have all options for power after a possible failure of black and red?
