Cristina Kirchner’s letter and the opposition’s harsh response

“The end of the pandemic?”. With this question, Cristina Kirchner published a new letter on its social networks, the first of 2022, under the title “Macrista Pandemic vs COVID-19 Pandemic”. The vice-president’s tweet was triggered at 6:30 p.m. on January 18, the same day that the death of prosecutor Alberto Nisman was 7 years old. Chance?

With the letter,Cristina Kirchner” became a trend and registered more than 25,000 mentions on Twitter. In the text, he fired again at former president Mauricio Macri, assuring that the pandemic left by the Together for Change government was greater than the Coronavirus pandemic: “What will never end is the macrista pandemic”. Throughout the letter, he makes a differentiation between the macrista pandemic and the COVID-19 pandemic, making an analysis of the economic situation in both contexts.

As always happens, each new letter from Cristina Kirchner it is quickly accompanied by a strong reaction from the opposition to refute his words. This time, the novelty was the answer of the own Mauricio Macri, since in previous CFK letters it had not happened.

What did Macri say? He resorted to the power of the RT, retweeting publications of whoever was his Minister of Economy, Alfonso Prat Gay: “CFK looted the BCRA; he stole savings in AFJPs and years of co-participation to the provinces; it melted down the national state, transforming the surplus into a deficit and increasing the debt by US$129 billion. But it turns out that the fault lies with the one who tried to order that disaster. #NoLieMore”. The second Prat-Gay tweet chosen by Macri to give him RT said: “They demonize Macri because he ‘indebted the country’, but it turns out that they have already increased the debt more than Macri. And they are just halfway through their misrule!! #FansOfTheLie”.

The National Senator, Alfredo Cornejo, was another of the opposition leaders who replied to CFK with a tweet at 7:44 p.m.: “@CFKArgentina writes again, but this time it is the Letter of Intent for the default of @Alferdez. He lost the ability to write, but maintains the spirit of blaming the other for the government’s inability. Also identified with the Radical Civic Union as Cornejo, Mario Raul Negri, he tweeted: “Cristina Kirchner trivializes and frivolizes the death of 120,000 people from Covid when talking about a macrista pandemic. Only a bad person with a lot of hate can do that.”

Another of those who came out with the tip caps was Alexander Finnochiaro, former Minister of Education of the Macri government: “The letter from Vice President Cristina Fernández has a very low institutional level, both because of the issue to which it refers, serious and tragic as the pandemic is -so poorly managed by the government that she leads- and because of the almost coarse tone that damages to his own investiture.

For her part, the national deputy of the PRO, Silvia Lospennato, wrote: “Tremendous impudence to talk about the cost of Covid without mentioning the cost in lives of the terrible decisions of your government. All of us who lost family and friends do not forget what “your government” did to us by privileging geopolitics and business to our lives “. But without a doubt, one of the strongest reactions was that of Mariana Zuvic, national deputy for the City of Buenos Aires: The only answer the Vice President deserves is jail.”

The president of the Civic Coalition, maxi ferraro, directly expressed his boredom: “The Vice President of the Nation tires with her periodic letters. It seems that she lives in self-exile and does not register a country plagued by inflation, lack of employment and investment.”

Another who referred to the letter, with his particular style, was Joseph Louis Espert shooting at everyone: “Macri and you should write a letter to the Argentine people apologizing for the shitty governments they made. Macri for useless and cowardly and you for being perverse, harmful. You are THE evil Cristina in politics.” And I add: “Two failed governments throw the ball to see who made the country fail (indebt) more. The solution to the problems of the Argentines is NOT in the crack, it is on the outside, it is in liberalism, in common sense, in saying things by name, not lying.

Thus passed one more letter from Cristina Kirchner, generating a wave of responses throughout the opposition that served to raise the temperature (even more) to the Argentine “political” summer.
