Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly no longer working with his longtime agent Jorge Mendes. This was reported by several media, including the Portuguese newspaper “Publico”.
According to this, the change of the 37-year-old football star to the Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr “definitely marks the end of the Mendes-Ronaldo partnership”. Ronaldo’s personal manager Ricardo Regufe has already handled the transfer to Al-Nassr, The Athletic reported.
Mendes and Ronaldo have apparently had differing views on the forward’s sporting future in recent months. Ronaldo is said to have been frustrated at not being able to leave Manchester United for a Champions League team in the summer.
The English record champions had only qualified for the Europa League. According to “The Athletic”, Mendes was disappointed because, in his view, Ronaldo had not recognized his limits when it came to the change issue.
In addition, Mendes is said to have disagreed with Ronaldo’s interview that he gave to moderator Piers Morgan last fall. In the conversation, the player sharply attacked his then coach at Manchester United, Erik ten Hag. A short time later, just before the start of the World Cup in Qatar, the club and Ronaldo parted amicably.
