Crisis shelter for Ukrainian families in De Haan is closing
On November 15, the municipality of De Haan terminated the lease with hotel ‘t Bosje on the Wenduinesteenweg. Since this spring, the municipality rented the entire hotel to accommodate Ukrainian refugees, but now only one Ukrainian man was staying in the hotel. “So it no longer made sense to rent the hotel,” says mayor Wilfried Vandaele.
Own housing
‘t Bosje was actually a transitional solution, because the intention was that Ukrainian families would look for housing themselves on the rental market. That all went well.
Some families moved to other municipalities, 72 people still live in De Haan, mostly in a house or apartment they rent.
