The crisis emergency shelter for asylum seekers at Graswijk in Assen will remain open until at least April 1, 2023. Since the beginning of October, fifty asylum seekers have been accommodated here for those who have no room in Ter Apel.
The farmhouse was previously a location for sheltered housing by CURA XL. The farmhouse was recently released and could be used as a reception location without any modifications.
Last September, the cabinet asked the security regions to create additional reception places for asylum seekers. The Drenthe municipalities agreed to jointly provide 450 places for crisis emergency shelter.
According to the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA), there will certainly still be a shortage of reception places on 1 January 2023. The Security Council has approved the transition plan that was recently drawn up by the government and agreed to keep the crisis emergency reception locations open until at least April 1, 2023, where possible.
