R.CRIMINAL DEPOSITS. THE CASANA SEQUESTRO
Kind: Documentary
Directed by Letizia Rossi

For the cycle Criminal tales comes up RaiPlay the story of one of the most incredible and controversial kidnappings in Italian criminal history: that of the Casana brothers near Capo Pecora, in Sardinia.

On 22 August 1979, a group of bandits arrived from the sea and surprised the Casana family (rich Turin entrepreneurs) together with friends.

The target is the daughter Marina, 16, but the mother also proposes to take her brother Giorgio, who is a year younger, so as not to leave the girl alone; it is this sudden gesture that changes the plans of the bandits who find themselves having to manage two hostages instead of one

The documentary, directed by Letizia Rossi, flows smoothly with testimonies of the two brothers, friends of the time, investigators and also through Rai documents, such as some insights from Mixer by Giovanni Minoli.

In addition to the tragedy of children now adults (Giorgio’s “fear of not being able to run anymore” after more than two months of imprisonment is a touching moment), the doc lingers on those arid and impenetrable areas of inland Sardiniaalmost a natural and criminal geography ofSupramonte hotel.
