Criminal case Former Ajax player Quincy Promes starts this month

The criminal trial against Quincy Promes will start on October 21 in the court in Amsterdam. The Public Prosecution Service suspects the former Ajax attacker of attempted murder after a stabbing incident in the summer of 2020.

Promes is suspected of stabbing his cousin in the knee during a family celebration. The victim suffered serious knee injuries in the incident. The trial of the criminal case was already scheduled for March. Due to illness of one of the process participants, it was then decided to postpone it.

Leaked conversations

In March of this year, leaked phone calls from Quincy Promes also ended up on the street. In this, the 30-year-old attacker would have confessed to family members that he was the perpetrator of the stabbing. A little after 1 a.m., Promes was in contact with his father: “Why are you jumping for that cousin of yours? You saved his life. Otherwise I’ll kill him, don’t you understand?” Promes says in one of those conversations. .

More than eight million

After the fuss about the stabbing incident, the 50-time international left Amsterdam in February 2021. The Russian Spartak Moscow paid more than eight million euros to Ajax to recruit the attacker for the second time in his career.
