In the pursuit of Soldier Hollow, the German biathletes were no longer able to make the desired attack towards the podium. In the victory of Frenchwoman Lou Jeanmonnot (one penalty), Selina Grotian, the best athlete in the German Ski Association (DSV), took 13th place (+2:03.4 minutes) after two penalty laps. After the disappointing sprint on Friday, the DSV women went into the chase with a big burden.
“We are all pretty exhausted after this weekend,” said Grotian at the ARD microphone. Behind the 19-year-old, Janina Hettich-Walz finished 14th in the USA (2 penalties/+2:04.5). Vanessa Voigt, only 36th in the sprint, improved to 16th place after a strong performance (1/+2:42.1).
Schneider stopped
Double junior world champion Julia Kink, who secured second place for the DSV team as the final runner in her short-term relay debut on Saturday, ended her first World Cup weekend in 38th place (3/+4:08.4 minutes).
