Crevits sees the struggle for land as one of the major problems facing farmers. “It’s something I’m often asked about. Farmers should still be given the opportunity to purchase land that comes up for sale.”
She explained that major infrastructure works as compensation land for afforestation also include agricultural land. “Minister of the Environment Zuhal Demir (N-VA) also has a major responsibility in this regard,” says Crevits.
Crevits wants to reassure farmers. “It is important that our farmers have the opportunity to buy land when it becomes available and that the agricultural area is preserved for the activity for which it is intended.”
