Persons with disabilities who find themselves in a sudden critical situation due to circumstances can immediately apply for a personal budget via an emergency procedure. The rules for that procedure are pretty strict. Minister of Welfare Hilde Crevits (CD&V) is now relaxing a number of guidelines in the assessment criteria for the emergency procedure. For example, persons with a disability who have lost support due to a divorce or eviction, for example, will also be given priority from now on.
