Lanvin and creative director Bruno Sialelli are to go their separate ways in the future.
Sialelli’s departure was announced on Friday by trade magazine WWD, citing a statement from Lanvin. The French fashion house has not yet responded to a request from FashionUnited.
According to WWD, Lanvin’s creative direction will be taken over by ‘Lanvin Lab’. The concept envisages inviting international talent for “creative partnerships”. The first guest is set to be revealed in the coming weeks.
Sialelli was appointed Lanvin’s creative director in January 2019. His appointment came shortly after the acquisition of the Lanvin brand by the Chinese conglomerate Fosun International. He was the brand’s fourth creative director in four years, succeeding Olivier Lapidus, who left the brand after just eight months. Fosun International hoped Sialelli’s appointment would mark “a decisive new direction” at Lanvin, it said in a statement at the time.
In February 2019, Sialelli made his debut for Lanvin. Even at first glance, it was clear that the designer wanted to rewrite the codes of the historic fashion house. He mainly presented everyday looks.
Before joining Lanvin, the designer worked at Loewe, Paco Rabanne, Balenciaga and Acne Studios.
