Creations of body and soul: Alejandra Farley’s puppet show

“Creatures of body and soul” is the title of the exhibition by the Argentine artist Alexandra Farleywhich will open on Wednesday, November 9 at the Cultural Center of Cooperation Floreal Gorini. The event presents Farley’s work process as a sculptor, designer and puppet maker through her multiple material conditions.

In the Raul Rozza Room of the cultural space, located at Avenida Corrientes 1543 in the city of Buenos Aires, the sculptor will give the opportunity to learn about and expand the fascinating creative and transformation process, step by step, of inert matter in the construction of a character, in its form puppet, body and soul.

The renowned artist has to her credit more than 30 productions of puppets and masks for plays throughout the country. They stand out from her work “the little elephant”, The woman with the lamp”, “Children’s Manifesto”, “Greta and Gaspar”, “Kafka process”, “Androcles and the lion” Y “The girl who waters the basil and the questioning prince”.

Farley’s career is not only highlighted by her years as a puppeteer and designer in the San Martin Theater. In addition, he is a sculpture teacher at the University of the Argentine Social Museum. A reference in the artistic environment of puppets, glove and shadow puppets.

The exhibition will be held within the framework of the 5th Edition of the Javier Villafañe National Award for puppet theater and objects created by the CCC in 2012. It is organized by the Area of ​​Puppets and Shows for Children and the Department of Visual Ideas. The schedule of meetings to tour the works are from Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 20:00, Saturdays and Sundays from 14:00 to 22:00, with free admission.
