Crazy Saxon comedy directed by Nicolás Cabré

★★★ Raymond Cooney is a English playwright, actor and director of proven effectiveness in the Buenos Aires billboard. Several of his comedies were represented here, such as the successful “not tonight dear” (1970), with production of Alejandro Romay and a cast that included María Concepción César, Beatriz Taibo and others. They also belong to youCab”,stay for breakfast” Y “Be unfaithful and don’t look with whom”. This time, together with his son Michael, they wrote this comedy “doors” that exploits the use of misunderstandings and crazy situations, in the living room of the house where a young couple lives.

The story is simple: Tom Emerson (Mariano Martinez) and Linda Kerwood (Mercedes Oviedo), they have no children and decide to adopt. They anxiously and nervously await the arrival of Mrs. Potter (Maria Valenzuela), official who will evaluate them. The dapper woman will have to scrutinize whether the way in which the lovebirds live is convenient to formalize the necessary procedures.

As expected when it comes to entanglements, everything will get complicated with the appearance of Dick (bug gomez) and Harry (Yayo Guridi), the giddy brothers of the protagonist. One arrives from Uruguayana with a shipment of cell phones, cigarettes and whiskey (in the original he travels to Calais and adds a couple of Kosovar refugees to the illegal shipment) and the other comes from the hospital where he works with some bags containing a dismembered corpse.

with these ingredients the situation will become chaotic, to the delight of the audience that laughs heartily. It is already known; for the farce to work depends on a dizzying descent into madness. Here it is accomplished and accentuated by the appearance of Katerina (gabriela sari), a suspicious girl. Obviously, there is no shortage of winks to the audience. From the already famous “What look silly? He goes over there, silly ”de Messieven the jokes about “touch-ups” with hyaluronic acid that the leading man in the play would have become.

The directorial debut of Nicolás Cabré, It is more than auspicious, and in terms of performances, Martínez gives his hero the exact tone of excitement that the character requires. Gómez relies heavily on graceful babbling and a histrionic attitude that reveals great mastery of the body. Guridi has a gestural mask that contributes, with small gestures, to encourage sarcasm. Oviedo and Valenzuela, compose their roles with skill and very good management of resources. Of course, a good pruning to the duration, it would not hurt at all.
