Las Vegas Raiders (3-4) @ Chicago Bears (2-5)
Result: 12:30 (0:7.3:7.0:7.9:9) BOXSCORE
- In the absence of Jimmy Garoppolo, the Las Vegas Raiders suffered a serious defeat in the fight for the playoffs. It was the fourth defeat against the Chicago Bears around backup quarterback Tyson Bagent. After just three quarters, the Bears had built up a comfortable lead, which was no longer in danger thanks to an even final period.
- In particular, Garoppolo replacement Brian Hoyer failed to prove his NFL suitability with two interceptions and thus lost his eleventh appearance as a starter in a row. Aidan O’Connell took over for the disappointing veteran in the final quarter.
Cleveland Browns (4-2) @ Indianapolis Colts (3-4)
Result: 39:38 (7:14, 20:7, 3:7, 9:10) BOXSCORE
- Crime, madness, shootout! There are many names that can be used to describe the game between the Cleveland Browns. In any case, what took place there in Indianapolis was pure entertainment. The two teams went back and forth throughout the game, with only one lead being more than one score, when the Browns led 30:21 midway through the third quarter. But even then the momentum changed again and when Michael Pittman Jr. scored a 75-yard touchdown with 5:30 minutes left to make it 38:33, the home fans believed in victory. But the spectators in Indy, if they were in favor of the Colts, were disappointed, because the Browns put together a successful game-winning drive that lasted minutes and 15 seconds before the end, leaving the Colts disappointed.
Buffalo Bills (4-3) @ New England Patriots (2-5)
Result:25:29 (0:10.3:3.7:3.15:13) BOXSCORE
- The New England Patriots celebrated a huge surprise in the AFC East. Head coach Bill Belichick’s team celebrated their second win of the season against the favored Buffalo Bills. After a field goal and an interception by Josh Allen, the underdog was ahead 10-0 early on. It wasn’t until the final quarter that the Bills found their game. After a fumble by tight end Kendrick Bourne, Buffalo turned the game around with just a few minutes on the clock. But the strong Mac Jones also withstood this pressure and secured the decision with a touchdown after a convincing two-minute drive.
Washington Commanders (3-4) @ New York Giants (2-5)
Result: 7:14 (0:0,0:14,7:0,0:0) BOXSCORE
- A strong second quarter was enough for the New York Giants to get their second win of the season against their division rivals from the capital. Two passing touchdowns from backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor to Darren Waller and Saquon Barkley ensured a narrow halftime lead against the Washington Commanders, which the guests were unable to catch up with in an uneventful second half. Little went together on offense for both teams. A rushing touchdown from Brian Robinson Jr. provided excitement after the break. But the Giants defense held firm in the final period and saved the narrow victory.
Atlanta Falcons (4-3) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-3)
Result: 16:13 (7:7, 3:3, 3:0, 3:3) BOXSCORE
- What a slugfest in the NFC South! In an exciting and sometimes wild game, the Atlanta Falcons ultimately got the upper hand thanks to a 51-yard field goal from Younghoe Koo and took the victory away from Tampa Bay. Actually, the Falcons could have decided the game long ago, but Desmond Ridder, who otherwise played a good game, had three fumbles in the redzone, two of them directly at the goal line.
- Knocked on the end zone three times, didn’t score three times and still won in the end. However, Ridder was saved this time by the strong Falcons defense, which largely canceled out the Bucs’ running game and thus laid the foundation for the narrow defeat. After the Bucs had equalized shortly before the end, Ridder saved himself and the Falcons when he pushed the door wide open for the game-winning field goal with a wonderful pass to Kyle Pitts.
Detroit Lions (5-2) @ Baltimore Ravens (5-2)
Result: 6:38 (0:14,0:14,0:7,6:3) BOXSCORE
- The Detroit Lions around German-American Amon-Ra St. Brown got badly hit by the Baltimore Ravens. The hosts, with Lamar Jackson excelling with a total of four touchdowns, were already leading 28-0 at halftime. In the second half the visitors stabilized somewhat without having a real chance of a comeback. Jared Goff had a horror day in the port city and, with two turnovers and no touchdown, played his part in the clear defeat, which even 102 receiving yards from St. Brown couldn’t change.
