Crazy chase after Lichtenberg – getaway car and two police cars broken

A speeder drove into two patrol cars in Berlin to escape from a police checkpoint.

The officers wanted to stop him on Tuesday afternoon, a police spokeswoman said. Whether he caused further accidents and whether there were injuries will be checked. The three occupants of the car were arrested at different locations in the city.

According to the police, the driver wanted to avoid a traffic check at Frankfurter Tor in Friedrichshain. Instead of stopping, he sped off. According to the police spokeswoman, the journey only ended on Landsberger Allee at the Zechliner Straße tram stop.

Two videos circulated on Instagram that are supposed to show the chase. One had nearly 100,000 clicks a few hours after it was posted. Both feature a blue convertible driving away in front of the police.

In one video, the car breaks through several chain bollards to avoid an oncoming patrol car. Two of the occupants jump out of the car and run away. Additional footage shows the blue car being rammed by a patrol car.

The videos are known to the police, said the spokeswoman. The investigations were still ongoing.
