Cranes remove exotic plants that…

Reinhardt Strubbe, Agency for Nature and Forests: “As part of the Life Dunias project, co-financed by Europe, we are removing invasive plants from the dunes. These are often plants that do not originate from our region. The rugose rose, for example, from Southeast Asia, is present here in our dunes and can expand up to 1 meter per year. It oppresses our entire native nature.”

Many original dune plants are lost under pressure from exotic plants. The work to make the dunes more robust and diverse again is not going unnoticed. Many people also think that they are unfairly excavating the dunes here. That is why there are signs everywhere with the necessary explanations. The first phase of nature restoration in the dunes on the East Coast should be completed by the end of April.
