The fireworks industry expects about 85 million euros in legal fireworks to be sold. That is more than ten percent more than the 77 million euros in 2019. Fireworks sellers have already seen pre-sale orders rise sharply. According to the Dutch Consumer Fireworks Fireworks Dealers Foundation (SVNC), this is one and a half to twice as many orders compared to the same period in 2019.
Holthuis is looking forward to the turn of the year: “I can’t wait. Just a few more nights of sleep, then it will be Saturday again. Finally setting off some nice fireworks again.” Whether Mulder himself will set off fireworks during the turn of the year? “No, I don’t do fireworks at all. I don’t like that,” he says and then bursts out laughing. “Yes, of course I do some fireworks!”
