Covid reinforcements: Why it is convenient to get vaccinated tomorrow

According to the specialized scientific magazine Science Immunology, the human body’s immune system has a special relationship with the time of day. As early as the 1960s, studies were conducted that identified immune responses at specific times of the circadian rhythm – that is, within the natural cycle of physical, mental, and behavioral changes that the body experiences in a 24-hour cycle – but only in the 1960s. In the last decade, the molecular factors that govern immune rhythms have been identified. Based on this, the morning hours tend to be more effective for vaccine administration than the rest of the day.

And not only that: it has also been shown that having a good night’s sleep improves the effect of vaccines, since hours of sleep have a favorable impact on immune parameters, the generation of antibodies and the formation of immunological memory. In contrast, short sleep duration and poor efficiency appear to be important factors leading to increased vulnerability and favoring neither the reduction of potential infections nor the antibody response after vaccination. Reasons why it is concluded that the morning hours are the best hours to receive the covid vaccine. This was also confirmed by the CONICET biologist and researcher Diego Golombeck on his Twitter account.

These data are useful when thinking about getting a booster of the covid-19 vaccine, in the midst of a resurgence of cases: The Ministry of Health reported, in its last weekly report, 44 deaths and 61,903 coronavirus infections. This is equivalent, according to the information provided by the agency, to a 12% growth in the number of deaths, compared to last week, when 39 deaths had been reported.

However, although it is prudent to be vigilant, it is important not to panic, since although infections have risen in recent weeks, the latest number represents a small drop of 0.57% in relation to the previous number, published on December 11, which was 62,261.

In any case, despite the fact that the situation seems to be far from becoming critical, the Minister of Health of the Nation, Carla Vizzottirecommended that “all people who have passed 120 days since the last dose, regardless of the number of doses or the number of boosters, have to take a dose to stimulate the defenses so that the cases do not translate into hospitalizations and deaths, especially those who are most at risk.

Faced with this scenario, the national government ordered, through a decree of necessity and urgency, the extension until December 31, 2023 of the public health emergencyarranged by Law 27,541.

In addition, the global alert generated by the outbreak of covid in China at the end of December should be taken into account: countries such as USA and Italy they were forced to reinforce controls on tourists.
