The CSIC scientist considers that the population should no longer fear a serious infection
Val Daisy, immunologist of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), has ensured that the Covid still present although the pandemic has already ended. “The covid virus continues to exist, but the emergency has already been declared over by the World Health Organization. The population no longer has to fear getting infected and that it is a serious case. They still ask me if you have to clean the purchase at home, it is no longer necessary. There is a lot of transmission viruses and bacteria respiratory disease that cause health problems and can all be combated with what we have learned in this health crisis“
The scientific has presented a talk at the UIB on future pandemics which may arrive in the near future. From his perspective, the health system and society is much more prepared: “it is clear that a deadlier virus could come, a pandemic may arrive with a pathogen that is easier to transmit. The good thing is that we are more prepared as a society because we no longer have to explain to anyone what a vaccine is, we have gained a lot in social maturity. Besides, scientists and authorities responsible for global health are more preparedare more aware of the dangers and they are working in the shadow at full speed“.
In this sense. Del Val has assured that the covid has shown us the importance of good ventilation to prevent the spread of the virus: “You do not have to stay at home or with the mask all day, the most important thing is to have breathable air. We have learned that poorly ventilated interiors and in the absence of filters are very unfavorable to contain the virus.
Relaxation health controls
According to the controversy unleashed in Castilla y León about the relaxation of controls in bovine tuberculosisthe scientist considers that this can affect the reputation of farmers: “The reputation of the product is lower if an infection such as bovine tuberculosis is not controlled. This type of tuberculosis can be transmitted to people and particularly among those with a weakened immune system it is worse. The best way to protect farmers is to eliminate infections, Don’t let them run free. You don’t realize how good something is until it’s gone.”
