Motörhead released their 1998 cover version of the Metallica classic “Enter Sandman” for the first time on all streaming platforms in celebration of “Motörhead Day” on May 8th and provided it with an animated music video. In addition to the digital release, a limited 7″ vinyl edition of Motörhead’s “Enter Sandman” cover (featuring a B-side of the Motörhead Warpig) is available through the band’s website.
Motörhead’s “Enter Sandman” was taken from a 1998 ECW wrestling compilation and slumbered on this CD for almost 25 years. The cover art has now been released on streaming services and with a new animated music video on YouTube, which takes the concept of the original Metallica clip in a Motörhead way. The cover is a faithful reproduction of the original.

The newly released track hits YouTube with an animated music video in which a child is plagued by nightmares of an evil Sandman and rescued by Motörhead’s Warpig mascot.
More about Motörhead and Metallica
In 2020, May 8 was originally created as Motörhead Day to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Ace of Spades album. Motörhead are also trying to preserve Lemmy’s memory by releasing posthumous material, unreleased concert recordings and boxsets.
Motorhead and Metallica were very close during Lemmy’s lifetime. In 1995, Metallica played around Lemmy’s 50th birthday – and all members of the band were dressed as Lemmy. Kilmister passed away in December 2015.
The current Motörhead album is called “Bad Magic”. It was first published in 2015 and was reissued on February 23, 2023.
