Courtney Love says she almost got cast as Marla Singer in ‘Fight Club’ movie. However, a heated conversation with Brad Pitt led to the role going to Helena Bonham Carter.

The singer was introduced to a film about Kurt Cobain, in which Pitt was supposed to play her late husband. Then she literally exploded. “I wouldn’t let Brad play Kurt,” she told comedian Marc Marion on the WTF Podcast. Love also told Pitt that he didn’t trust him. Although his films are great works, she has the feeling that he does not understand them. “If you don’t understand me, you kind of don’t understand Kurt, and I don’t get the feeling that you do, Brad.”

Love believes the conversation cost her the cast of Fight Club, which starred Pitt. However, it is not entirely clear whether she was even offered the role and what influence Pitt might have had on the decision.
