Courted by Hertha BSC: Sandro Schwarz resigns at Dynamo Moscow

Courted by Hertha BSC

Sandro Schwarz has announced his resignation as coach of Dynamo Moscow. The coach courted by Hertha BSC had previously missed winning the Russian Cup with the capital club. Dynamo lost the final on Sunday against city rivals Spartak 1-2 (1-0). Dutchman Quincy Promes scored the winning goal in the 72nd minute. Dynamo missed a penalty in stoppage time.

“I’ve always said that we should all see this season through to the end together. But the situation in the world is not easy and today was my last game in Russia. I can say that I have no agreements with any other club. It was my job to go to the end with our team,” said Schwarz. According to media reports, the 43-year-old should already be in agreement with Hertha BSC. The former coach of 1. FSV Mainz 05 originally had a contract that ran until 2024.

Schwarz, who has only looked after the “zero fives” in the Bundesliga from 2017 to 2019, is to be introduced to the “old lady” in the coming days. During his Dynamo engagement in Russia, he was named coach of the month several times. In contrast to other German coaches such as Markus Gisdol or Daniel Farke, he stayed in the country even after the start of the war in Ukraine.

Black should lead the Berliners back into a safe table area. Under short-term coach Felix Magath, Hertha BSC only just managed to stay up against Hamburger SV (0:1/2:0) in the relegation.
