Court reopens investigation in Quincy Promes assault case, judgment postponed | Interior

The court of Amsterdam reopens the investigation in the criminal case against football player Quincy Promes. The court will not rule on Friday in the case about the abuse of his cousin, the court announced on Wednesday.

The Public Prosecution Service has demanded a prison sentence of two years against the 31-year-old professional footballer. On the night of 24 to 25 July 2020, he allegedly stabbed his cousin in the knee at a party in Abcoude. One from an aunt stolen chain could have been the cause. The OM suspects him of aggravated assault.

During the session, Friday at 10 a.m., the court will not yet issue a final judgment in the criminal case. The reason for the postponement will then be announced, according to a spokeswoman for the court.

The victim sustained serious injuries in the stabbing incident. The nephew was hit in an important tendon, which left him unable to use his left leg for a long time. He had to rehabilitate for a long time and can no longer squat or run. He also suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Promes did not attend his criminal case due to contractual obligations at his Russian club Spartak Moscow. Promes fears being arrested if he comes to the Netherlands, because the Public Prosecution Service wants to hear him in another case about drug trafficking.
