The coup plotters who seized power in Niger in July say that France is keeping troops ready for a military intervention in the West African country’s neighbors. France has soldiers in several ECOWAS member states, the partnership of West African countries. Last month, Ecowas repeatedly threatened to intervene militarily in Niger if the coup plotters did not relinquish power.
