The NFL has announced the artists for the musical accompaniment ahead of Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas. The national anthem is sung by a country music legend.
Before it comes to who wins the coveted Vince Lombardi Trophy on February 11th at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas/Nevada, America will traditionally be honored with a total of three anthems.
The highlight is the official national anthem of the USA, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” shortly before kickoff. This year, country music legend Reba McEntire will sing the anthem. She is known, among other things, as a singer, actress and entrepreneur. She is also in the Country Music Hall of Fame. She is following in the footsteps of country star Chris Stapleton, who performed a widely acclaimed version of the anthem last year.
Before that, Post Malone will perform the unofficial national anthem of the USA, “America the Beautiful”. The Grammy-nominated singer is known, among other things, for the title song of the successful animated film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” (“Sunflower”).
Super Bowl 58: Anthems also in sign language
In addition, Grammy winner Andra Day will sing the song “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” known as the black national anthem. One of their biggest hits is “Rise up” from 2016. In addition, all three anthems are also performed in American Sign Language. Actor Daniel Durant performs the official anthem, actress Anjel Piñero performs “America the Beautiful” and actor Shaheem Sanchez is responsible for “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
Meanwhile, the star of the world-famous Super Bowl Halfime Show this year is Usher, who was announced a long time ago.
The singing of the national anthem before the Super Bowl has been an event in itself for many years, with numerous memorable performances. Whitney Houston’s legendary performance in 1991 in Tampa Bay, Florida, is certainly unforgettable.
In Germany, Super Bowl 58 can be seen live on RTL on February 11th from 11:15 p.m.
