Councilors from local parties conquer almost half of the seats

The local parties are well represented in our province, according to research by the NOS. Exactly four months after the municipal elections of March 16, it appears that aldermen of local parties have won almost half (46.1 percent) of the number of seats in Brabant.

Nationally, the local parties have won one or more aldermen’s seats in more than eight out of ten municipalities. In almost fifty municipalities that previously had no alderman from a local party, there is now at least one.

The majority of the municipalities, 328 in total, have now formed a new executive council, and negotiations are still ongoing in five municipalities. According to the NOS this has to do with mutual political mistrust, as a result of which previous formations failed or talks started very late.

White smoke in Geertruidenberg
They hadn’t figured it out in Geertruidenberg for a long time, but three days ago there was white smoke after all. The factions of three local parties, Keerpunt74, Lokaal+, Morgen! form the new council together with the VVD. Three of the four aldermen come from the local parties.

Someren also took a long time to form a college, namely 111 days.
