Councilor Daan Hooiveld (Municipality of Borger-Odoorn) has resigned. He does this after he leaked the advice of the informateur for the formation of a coalition to RTV Drenthe.
“A person sometimes makes stupid mistakes. In all emotion I made such a stupid and big mistake, so that I can no longer look you and myself straight in the eye”, mayor Jan Seton (CDA) read from a statement by Hooiveld .
This brings an end to four years of council membership for Hooiveld, who had to pull the cart as a young party leader during the election campaign for this year’s municipal elections. “This is where my council membership ends for me,” he told the group leaders of the other parties.
