Henk Doeven (DSW) from Wapserveen stops as alderman of the municipality of Westerveld. He announced this today. Doeven is retiring after a six-year directorship.
As an alderman, Doeven (67) dealt with sports, public space and culture, among other things. According to his party, he would like to make room for a successor.
Last year, Doeven became nationally known when, as deputy mayor, he became involved in the killing of the wolf in Wapse after the animal attacked a resident of the municipality. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, including Doeven, against whom a report was filed.
From 2010 to 2018, Doeven was a councilor for the local party DSSW-SW, which is now called DSW. In 2018, Doeven was appointed as alderman after he lost his place in the municipal council to fellow party member Alfred Schoenmaker in the same year.
In the years that followed, he experienced, among other things, the administrative crisis in which the Progressive Westerveld party left the council.
Doeven will enjoy his retirement from April 24. If it is up to the DSW party, Schoenmaker will succeed him again, this time as alderman. Schoenmaker now sits in the provincial council and the municipal council. He will reportedly retire from both positions.
