Council of Europe holds first summit in 18 years in Reykjavik

The heads of state and government of the 46 countries of the Council of Europe, the main human rights organization on the European continent, will gather in the Icelandic capital Reykjavik next Tuesday and Wednesday for their first summit in 18 years. That it was high time for the leaders to meet again was decided in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The war already ensured that Russia was excluded from membership last year.
