Council Noordenveld tolerates illegal salt silo at new municipal yard

The Noordenveld municipal council is not making an agenda item for the ‘illegal’ salt silo on the site of the new municipal wharf in Roden. A permit is therefore close by and so the municipality does not have to enforce itself in the meantime.

The municipality of Noordenveld was previously embarrassed when an observant local resident rang the bell about the salt silo on the site of the new municipal wharf. According to him, this was very high at over sixteen meters and the correct permit was missing, he believed. A supervisor from the municipality came to the same conclusion a little later.

tolerated

This led to the municipality imposing a fine of 150,000 euros on itself if the ‘illegal’ salt silo remains standing. Only when there is a short-term prospect of the correct permit for the structure, the municipality does not have to take any measures.

The Noordenveldse council gave a definite answer tonight. A ‘declaration of no objections’ is issued, making the silo legal soon. Until then, the silo will be tolerated.

‘Take direction’

Council member Tineke Nieboer (Lijst Groen Noordenveld) advised the mayor and aldermen to ‘take control again’ on this subject. “Be transparent to your residents and tell them what went wrong in the process,” said Nieboer. “So that residents do not have to read this in the media.”
