The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has assured that it does not plan to send Ukraine any missiles that could reach Russian territory.
“I will not send anything that can fire into Russia,” he bluntly replied to those who asked him today at the White House if he was willing to make less limited use of his arsenal against Russia. CNN has assured that they are going to increase the type of weapons that they are going to send to Ukraine, they are going to send advanced artillery systems and other types of supplies. However, they will not send anything that could take the war to the heart of Russia.
The defensive systems are sent to improve Ukraine’s security and defense possibilities against Russia, a country that vastly outnumbers Ukraine in military might. However, the US is concerned about the use that Ukraine could make of these weapons if the situation escalates. They could take the war to Russia and therefore cause the situation to escalate, since Russia is not willing to receive such an attack.
In fact, Russia has threatened the US that this would be crossing a dangerous “red line”.
