Mason Greenwood will not return to Manchester United, the club announced in a press release published on Monday.
Greenwood has been out of United action since January 2022, when he was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault. The arrest was based on a social media post by Greenwood’s ex-girlfriend.
Greenwood was accused of, among other things, attempted rape. All charges against him were dropped in February this year after the key witness decided to remain silent.
Six months ago, United started its own investigation, the end result of which is that Greenwood is “best to continue outside Old Trafford”.
