Rap artist Costa Titchproperly named Constantinos Tsobanoglou, has died at the age of 28. The South African Tsobanoglou had been performing at the Ultra music festival in Johannesburg on Saturday, when in the middle of his gig he suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed in front of the audience.
The video of the tragic event has started to spread rapidly on social media.
Costa Titch was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. The cause of death has not been made public so far.
The artist’s family confirmed Costa Titch’s death on Sunday morning on his Instagram account.
– Death has tragically knocked on our door. it robbed us of our beloved son, brother and grandson, Constantinos Tsobanoglou, whom South Africa had loved and idolized under his stage name Costa Titch. Accompanied by great pain, we have to accept his passing, the update wrote freely in Finnish.
– We are grateful to the emergency personnel and everyone who was present during his last hours on this earth. As a family, we are now facing a difficult time as we try to rationalize what has happened and ask for time and space.
Before his sudden death, Costa Titch had just released a new music video Enjoymentto his song. It remained the biggest hit of the rapper’s career Big Flexa, which has more than 10 million listens on Spotify. The latest version of Big Flexa features a guest appearance by a well-known Senegalese-American rapper Akon.
The Ultra music festival was held in South Africa in two cities over two days. On Friday the festival was held in Cape Town and on Saturday in Johannesburg.
