From Hildburg Bruns

It’s deja vu. Unfortunately with bad memories: The renovation of the State Opera took seven years, and the costs doubled to 440 million euros. At the time, everyone vowed: That won’t happen to us at the Komische Oper a few hundred meters away!

There was talk of the greatest possible transparency. And what happens? At the beginning of September, the Senate will pass its investment plan. The Komische Oper is estimated at a total based on outdated estimates.

Nobody said that when the figures were presented. And two weeks later it’s suddenly twice as expensive.

We all know that building materials prices are skyrocketing right now. Nevertheless, the taxpayer can expect realistic calculations.

How else are MPs supposed to decide whether a project needs to be tackled or canceled?
