Chi better than the only Italian athlete to have won three Olympic gold medals with skiing for carry forward the Cortina 2026 flag? And while we’re at it, can we work concretely to bring as many people as possible closer to winter sports?
We are obviously talking about Deborah Compagnoniwhich last weekend in Cortina launched its OVS Altavia line by Deborah Compagnoni. A ski and outdoor collection designed to be technical but above all accessible to all.

As the champion, originally from Bormio and many times winner in Cortina, explained to us, her aim is bring anyone who wants it closer to skiingwithout impediments due to the high cost of clothing.

An air of novelty in Cortina
And if the Cortina Fashion Weekend has already reached its 13th edition, there are many initiatives that enliven the city in view of the Olympics. First of all, the hotel and culinary offer is in turmoil. In addition to the very recent opening of “El Camineto” by Fabio Briatore – which caused such a sensation – many hotels have changed ownership and are being renovated.
The new Ancora hotel in Cortina d’Ampezzo will be managed by Egnazia Ospitaalità Italiana, owned by Red Circle, a real estate investment company Renzo Rosso. The hotel is currently undergoing restyling and will have 38 rooms, including 12 suites, with dimensions between 24 and 123 square meters, as well as an exclusive club, a restaurant, a bar, and the enhancement of the historic terrace on the heart of Cortina. Work began in July 2022 and will continue for the next two years.
It will also be reborn Grand Hotel Cristallobuilt in 1901 in Art Nouveau style and purchased in 2021 and will reopen as “Mandarin Oriental Crystal” in 2024in view of the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, the Group’s first Alpine resort.
The Faloria Mountain Spa Resort, finally added 5 new Tofane suites and a Penthouse, all designed by Flaviano Capriotti Architetti, to expand its 5-star offering. The new rooms were inaugurated last weekend to coincide with the hotel’s winter opening.
New talents in town
EXHIBITA has also arrived in Cortinathe Milanese studio specialized inconception, planning and production of events, which last weekend inaugurated its new headquarters in Cortina d’Ampezzo with an event attended by institutions, journalists, sports and fashion & luxury personalities. With the project “Paul & Shark takes Cortina”, Paul & Shark has consolidated its presence in the well-known resort in the heart of the Dolomites by dressing it with sharks, from the Scoiattoli refuge to the 400 athletes of the historic ski club, with which an annual partnership has been signed.
Also Drumohr has gone to high altitudes and is expanding its winter offering with the SNOW project, where the new Special Collection in collaboration with JAAMtechnical ski clothing, is accompanied by the customization of two refuges in two mountain resorts.
AND Philsonan American outdoor company that has been perfecting the art of functional, resistant and long-lasting garments and accessories for over 125 years, opened its first flagship store in Europe in Cortinain the center, between Largo Poste and Corso Italia, in via Benin 1.
Christmas holidays… return to Cortina
After returning to TV, e only for December 30th at the cinemathe cult film by the Vanzina Brothers will also be the protagonist of three days of celebrations on the weekend of December 16th. We return to that fateful Christmas with the ritual appointment at the Hotel de la Poste (and don’t go to the Post Office like Claudio Amendola!).
Right at the hotel Enrico Vanzina, author of the film together with his brother Carlo (who died in 2018), will receive the Nations Award for lifetime achievement. To keep him company also Jerry Calàthe mischievous Billo from the ’83 film.
In short, the city already feels the electricity of the winter season and upcoming world events. In the hope that the access roads, currently often marred by kilometre-long queues, will find a new smoothness in time for the highly anticipated women’s ski races in 2026.
