Corry Konings (71) notices that her fan base is getting older. To many young people, she is just a random elderly woman. “Sometimes I don’t even get recognized at the gym.”
Crying Is For You Too Late singer Corry Konings is still a well-known name in many Dutch households. She notices this in the gym, where people like to talk to her. “Of course. The conversations, greetings and social contacts also make it fun to exercise,” she explains in the Party.
Corey in the gym
Corry has to really struggle through the fans at times. “One time I am approached by several people who recognize me. Then they say, for example, that they haven’t seen me in the gym for a while. Then I explain that I was just a bit too busy, but now I’m back to sports.”
Yet it sometimes happens that no one looks up or looks back when this celebrity enters the gym. “Another time I have no claim at all.”
‘That’s fine’
What does she think of that? “Fine,” says Corey. But even then she starts talking to the people. “Sometimes I ask someone for information about a certain device; I want to know how it works and if I can do it too.”
What does Corry actually do in the gym? “I want to make my body a bit stronger, because I also want to go skiing sometime. I can do the basics of sliding down, but walking up, onto the slopes, that will be more difficult. So I do some exercises for that.”
Senior Dating
So Corry looks for her social contacts in the gym. How is her love life? “Zero point zero, haha. I love a lot of people, I am very broad in that.”
Is she looking? “No, I’m not looking for anything. I like it just as well. I always say this: it comes your way, or it doesn’t come. You either give it a chance, or you don’t give it a chance.”
