You will never be!” With those unmistakable words, Corrie from Tilburg ended the dream of Thijs (19) to become a Brabander. Corrie’s statement in the series ‘Thijs wants to become a Brabander’ is a big online hit. “I didn’t realize it was going so fast!”
on TikTok Corrie’s statement has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times. She gets the laughs on her hand with it. “I’ve actually only had positive reactions, especially from people from Brabant of course”, Corrie laughs. “My son saw it on Facebook and texted me. ‘Mom, you’re a hit! You are very famous!” he wrote.”
Corrie made her now famous statement in the YouTube series ‘Thijs wants to become a Brabander’ of Omroep Brabant.
In the series of Omroep Brabant, Thijs den Ouden from Amersfoort tries to get rid of his hard G and beaked R in six weeks, in order to become a real Brabander. In the first episode he asked for tips from passers-by on the street. “My husband and I went to pick up something at a store. Suddenly Thijs pushed the microphone under my nose. Then I blurted it out,” Corrie laughs.
Corrie does not have much faith in a good ending, but she does invite Thijs to have a cup of coffee after the series has ended. “I said: ‘if you think you are a Brabander, come and have a cup of coffee’. It will be a very tough job. But of course he is welcome!”
