Corona takeout counters Waardse coffee shop back in use after nightly fire

A fire broke out at Heerhugowaard’s only coffee shop last night around 2.30 am. The owner of the weed shop on the Raadhuisstraat is shocked and disappointed, but says that they will ‘just open’ soon. “We’ve been cleaning hard all morning.”

The owner does not know how the fire started, he is awaiting the investigation of the police. “In the corner where the fire broke out, there is quite a bit of damage to the ceiling, the floor and two windows are broken,” he says. “There was also a lot of soot, but we have already cleaned that up and we will start the repair work as soon as possible.”

Takeout counters

Today and in the coming days, customers can use the takeout counters that the coffee shop had put into use during the corona crisis. Customers then do not have to go into the store to buy their soft drugs, but can order them outside on the street.

“We can open again this afternoon. Well, ‘just’. We have not yet broken down the counters that we used for sales during corona,” says the manager. “So we can now also use it for takeaway.”

A police spokesman said an investigation has been launched. He can’t say anything about that yet.
