The National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) reports on Tuesday how many positive tests have been registered in the past week. Last week, the institute reported 439,775 new cases in seven days. That was almost 80 percent more than the week before. In the six days after the last update, more than 375,000 infections have come to light. This could bring the weekly figure to 430,000 to 450,000.
RIVM also reports on Tuesday how many people with corona among its members have ended up in hospital in the past week. Last week there were 1171 new admissions, 82 of which were in intensive care units. During the same period, the institute recorded 56 deaths from the virus.
