Minister of Health Ernst Kuipers will give a press conference at 7 p.m. tonight where he will most likely announce new relaxations. Sources from The Hague have already reported to various media that from next Friday there will be more room for the catering and cultural sector. Now they still have to close at 10 p.m., but that goes to 1 a.m.
Kuipers may also consider the period from Friday 25 January, because the cabinet would then plan to throw almost all corona rules overboard. Only a number of basic advice, such as no shaking hands, hygiene, ventilation and testing in case of complaints, will be maintained. Mouth caps and the distance rule are cancelled. The corona admission ticket also goes into the refrigerator, and is only taken out of the stable in situations in which it has ‘really added value’.
A 1G policy will apply to festivals and major events, which therefore attract a lot of people. This means that visitors only have access after showing a negative test result. It does not matter whether someone has been vaccinated. In addition, there will probably be a more flexible isolation policy: a mandatory stay at home after an infection will be shortened from seven to five days, provided that the person is free of complaints for 24 hours.
The corona press conference can be seen live tonight on our site, our Facebook page, via TV Drenthe and on Radio Drenthe.
