At the World Athletics Championships in Eugene/Oregon there was a large-scale outbreak of corona in the Japanese marathon team.
As the world association World Athletics and the organizers announced, seven team members were infected, including two athletes and the head coach.
Further details about the identity were not given. Those affected have gone into isolation. The men’s marathon takes place on Sunday morning, the women’s race on Monday (both 6:15 a.m. local time/3:15 p.m. CEST).
