Corona numbers: Current data and graphics on the corona virus

In order to be able to assess the corona situation, one must not just look at a single number such as the incidence. Because of the vaccination and the omicron variant, it is even more important to look at all the data together. For example, Omicron leads to higher infection numbers, which, however, due to the vaccination and the less severe course, do not affect the intensive care units to the same extent – and fewer people die. That is why the most important indicators and the associated trend are now presented at a glance on ZDFheute.

In addition, many numbers now need even more classification than before and no longer speak for themselves. For example, the different incidence in vaccinated and unvaccinated people because of omicron has a different significance due to the properties of the new variant and can no longer be compared so well with the course of infection during compare to the delta wave. The hospitalization rate, for example, should also be interpreted with greater caution because of Omicron, because many come to the hospital with, and not because of, Corona. In addition, many indicators lag behind the infection process for weeks and do not show the current status of the pandemic. In the future, these data and developments are to be dealt with in independent analyzes – and no longer in the daily current corona data offer.
