There will be a bridging arrangement for healthcare workers who are at risk of losing their jobs due to the prolonged COVID-19. The scheme has been set up for people who became ill at the beginning of the corona crisis and can no longer work since then. Normally they should be discharged after two years of illness. With the new arrangement they can be kept in service for at least six months longer, reports Minister Conny Helder.
The ministry does not cover all costs. “Because the greatest risks were incurred in healthcare at the time of contact with infected people, and because there was less room for reintegration due to the high pressure on healthcare, we offer healthcare employers temporary support to help healthcare workers with long-term complaints after a COVID-19 crisis. infection for longer,” said the minister in a statement about the arrangement.
The new scheme is being set up for healthcare staff who became ill between March and December 2020. The trade union FNV, among others, had requested such a scheme.
