Turnover in the Dutch car and motorcycle sector recovered strongly last year after the dip of the first corona year. The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reports that sector-wide revenues even exceeded the level of 2019, the last year before the pandemic.
More than a tenth extra was turnover than in 2020. Compared to two years earlier, turnover was 2.4 percent higher. The engine trade and companies involved in heavy commercial vehicles performed particularly well. There was an increase in turnover of 21 and almost 15 percent respectively.
However, various entrepreneurs still see obstacles in the way: there is a shortage of chips and companies are screaming for staff. In the fourth quarter of last year, Statistics Netherlands had approximately 6,200 vacancies in the sector, the highest number since 1997.
