LONDON (dpa-AFX) – The number of corona infections in England has recently risen again to a high level. In the week ending July 13, about six percent of people in Britain’s largest country were infected, according to figures from the Statistics Office. In Scotland it was even almost 6.7 percent. Although the highly contagious omicron variants are spreading rapidly, there are no longer any protective measures. Masks are also only seen on a few Britons.
The Statistics Office’s weekly estimates, which are calculated from a regular random sample of the population, are considered the most reliable picture of the infection situation in the UK.
