As a result, there are currently 769 corona patients in Belgian hospitals. That’s a 5% drop on a weekly basis. The number of corona patients requiring intensive care fell by 5 percent on a weekly basis to 56.

Between August 30 and September 5, an average of 1,489 people tested positive for the coronavirus every day. That is 2 percent less than the seven days before. In the same period, 6 people succumbed to the consequences of a corona infection, which is an increase of 10 percent.

West Flemish figures

There is an increase in hospital occupancy in our province. On September 7, there were 83 patients with corona in West Flemish hospitals. That is 19% more than the week before. Nationally there is a decrease of 1%. Of those 83 patients, 5 are in intensive care. 1 of them is on a ventilator.

There were about 2,200 new infections in the past 14 days. The highest number of new infections in our province has been established in the larger municipalities such as Bruges, Roeselare, Kortrijk, Ostend and Waregem. If we take into account the number of inhabitants, the incidence (the number of cases converted per 100,000 inhabitants) is greatest in Spiere-Helkijn, Lendelede, Houthulst, Dentergem and Kuurne.
