The antivaxers accused the employees of murder and genocide and, according to the GGD, there was also a “small scuffle.” According to the police, the suspects were guilty of assault, threats and insulting GGD employees. It concerned a group of around eight demonstrators, reports the Limburger.
A female activist was summoned by staff not to film; she would have dealt a blow. The day before, antivaxers had attacked employees at the GGD location in Heerlen.

A video of the incident quickly went viral. Initially none of the antivaxers were arrested. This to the great dismay of mayor Roel Wever van Heerlen, who felt that the ‘protesters’ had crossed the line and committed criminal offences. The GGD subsequently filed a report with the police. “We are here for the citizen, and not to be called a murderer,” said a spokesman for the GGD after the second incident. “We have been working non-stop for two years to make sure we tackle the pandemic. Everyone is allowed to demonstrate, but within limits. You don’t come rushing in to attack people with words and physically.”
