Cornald Maas is furious because a Shownieuws reporter has visited him at home unannounced. He therefore wants to deny the SBS 6 program access to the Eurovision Song Contest.
It causes astonishment that AvroTros sends an act to the Eurovision Song Contest this year that is completely inexperienced and gives crazy performances everywhere: Mia & Dion. Curiously, there is a refusal on all sides to be accountable in the media; especially the absence of their mentor Duncan Laurence causes incomprehension.
To Cornald
The editors of Shownieuws also fail to speak to anyone. “AvroTros did make some noise, but very briefly”, explains show connoisseur Bart Ettekoven in the broadcast last night.
Colleague Evert Santegoeds: “They were pretty angry with us, weren’t they?”
Bart: “Yes, they were angry, because we didn’t get any response. Not with Cornald, nobody really wanted to respond. They wanted to keep it to a very brief statement and no one answered his phone, so at one point we sent a reporter to Cornald, just to see if he was home and wanted to say something.”
SBS blacklisted?
And then? Bart: “Then we were indeed called by a gentleman from the press service at AvroTros and he even threatened to withdraw our accreditation. That means that you are no longer welcome in Liverpool and are not allowed to enter anywhere. Basically what VI has with the Dutch national team.”
Evert: “Do you think the soup will be eaten this hot tomorrow?”
Bart: “Well, I hope not. I hope they are more sensible than that, because that would of course be a very strange reaction. I get that they don’t like how we here yesterday… I mean: Dyantha almost laughed because it was so painful. We could hardly believe it.”
Hiding hole
Evert: “But that threat is mainly because we didn’t get to speak to anyone and then drove to Amsterdam to visit some people, right? They are angry about that.”
Bart: “Then they should have just put one person forward from the AvroTros camp and let them do the talking. Or someone from the jury or a Duncan or someone from AvroTros. If necessary, the press officer himself if no one dares. Isn’t it strange that everyone is hiding in their hole at such a moment?”
Hypocritical
That Cornald is just a terrible hypocrite, says Bart. “Listen: if they had done a fantastic job, Cornald Maas would have been at the front of the barricades to say: ‘I’ve said it all along! I immediately heard it was fantastic!’”
Leontien van Moorsel: “Yes, but he has to be there now.”
Bart: “Yes, exactly, but now they are all in their fear holes and they are all turning off the phone.”
