Copenhagen Fashion Week has inaugurated the new support program ‘CPHFW Newtalent’ for up-and-coming designers. The program was created “to nurture, develop and support emerging Nordic talent on a global scale,” writes Copenhagen Fashion Week in a statement on Monday.
Among the first designers to be sponsored are Denmark’s Amalie Røge Hove from knitwear label A. Roege Hove, Ervin Latimer from Finnish label Latimmier and Peter Lundvald Nielsen from PLN. The emerging talents will be sponsored for three seasons, after which they will enter alumni program. In addition to financial help, advisory functions and cooperation opportunities, the labels will also be integrated into the Copenhagen Fashion Week calendar and promoted through PR and marketing during Copenhagen Fashion Week.
“We are proud to launch CPHFW Newtalent as a formalized structure that showcases how Copenhagen Fashion Week is investing in the next generation of exceptional talent. As responsibility is an overarching and fundamental focus of our organization, this program will allow us to further expand our commitment to talent,” says Cecilie Thorsmark, CEO at Copenhagen Fashion Week. Thorsmark sees the funding program as an important step that enables designers to build up their labels on an international level and make them visible to a global audience.
CPHFW Newtalent was realized in collaboration with textile manufacturer Circulose, Zenz, Swedish Fashion Council, luxury fashion group Vanguards, Wessel & Vetts Foundation and Norwegian platform Alpha.
